Q. Why isn’t milk a good source of calcium? -Tom
Dr. Huber,
Thank you for speaking at our triathlon class last week. It was most informative and helpful. My weight loss had stalled for about a year. After your talk I eliminated dairy, began eating hard boiled eggs with my breakfast and have eliminated as much sugar as possible. The result is that I have begun losing weight again. And, I need it. In my enthusiasm for the dairy free diet I have been telling anyone who will listen how it has affected my weight. Each of them has asked questions about losing the benefits of calcium. I can’t remember exactly how you addressed that. Can you tell me again about calcium as it relates to dairy? Thank you. -Tom
Hey Tom,
Your success is very typical and yet always exciting when I see someone move their health forward. Congrats on having ears that work and a mind that is open to new direction. You are making this work and that excites me.
The calcium issue is steeped in bad mythical info that is propagated by the dairy industry. I would direct you to the article entitled Why Pinocchio Must Never Work for the Dairy Association as well as the post Is Milk Good for Kids? (or anyone else?) If you can’t find the information you want there then you can also go to a website called “Milk Sucks.com.” If you are still in need of help then meet me at the grocery store in the dairy isle and we’ll figure something out.
You get all the calcium you need from green vegetables. The acidity of milk pulls more calcium OUT of you than it delivers to you. Cultures that don’t drink milk have less bone problems than culture that do drink milk.
Milk is a cancer promoter, an asthma and ear nose and throat trouble maker. It produces excess mucous leading to snoring and respiratory problems. It contains 1.5 million pus cells per teaspoon. Yummy. It has been linked to type 1 diabetes as well as cancer occurrence rates.
Keep up the good work!
Dr. Gary Huber
