Q. What do you think of the multivitamin from Thorne? -Jay S.
I found a multivitamin that seems to have everything in the right forms. The company behind it, Thorne Research, appears to be an Australian company. http://www.thorne.com If you would please, I would like your opinion of this company in general, and the multivitamin “Basic Nutrients V” in particular. Thanks very much. -Jay S.
Hi Jay,
I really like Thorne products. They are of outstanding quality and I use them myself. Basic Nutrient V is a nice multi. It has activated folic acid which I like and is hard to find. It does not have a mixed vitamin E unfortunately but Thorne does offer one called Ultimate E.
I like Ultimate E for anyone taking high dose fish oil as it will protect the omega 3 content of the fish oil form oxidation. Basic V also offers a nice complete mineral package containing REAL worthwhile amounts of chromium, vanadium and boron.
You have found a winner here Jay and it does not contain iron which is perfect for men. Iron should only be taken by menstruating females. And take notice that this outstanding vitamin does NOT cost $100 like some of those other pretenders.
Nice discovery.

As a follow-up, I am wondering how I should store these or other vitamins. The bottles say to store in a cool dry place, but they never say how cool. In summer I am comfortable with inside temperature of 76-82. Should I be keeping these vitamins and any other pills in the refrigerator?
Just keep them in the house, presumably it’s air-conditioned? It’s the humidity that would cause the biggest problem. Refrigeration is not necessary. Ever stop to think about the warehouses and trucks were these vitamins have spent the majority of their lives? Besides, you’re so cool that just being near you is enough to keep those vitamins fresh.
