Q. Do you have any good tips for trigeminal neuralgia? -Lisa

Do you have any good tips for trigeminal neuralgia?I have this and do not want to take medication. Exercise and chiropractic seem to help. Thanks, Lisa

Hi Lisa,

Trigeminal neuralgia is an inflammation of a facial nerve. The source is often unknown. Dental work, and in particular the presence of silver amalgam fillings can be a cause that goes undiagnosed.

I have seen patients improve after chelation of heavy metals. A simple urine test can tell if you have significant levels of heavy metals such as mercury, lead, aluminum and others.

Also, the omega 3 oil, DHA, is a good adjunct to quiet neuronal inflammation and aid repair. I would recommend taking 600 mg of DHA per day in divided doses.

The issue may be related to an autoimmune process and require further investigation.

Good luck,

Dr. Huber
