Q. Does organic milk avoid the problems you mentioned about cow’s milk?
I read your article about goat’s milk vs. cow’s milk and didn’t realize the body had a problem with milk. I understand if you have a milk allergy but what if I buy organic fat free milk? -Stacy
Hi Stacy,
Organic means that the milk is free of hormones and antibiotics. Fat free means the milk is devoid of fat. But neither of these issues are related to the protein content of milk which is highly allergenic.
So, organic fat free milk still has the same protein content, unaltered. It is the protein component of milk as well as the lactose sugar component that results in an allergy. Most people, and by ‘most’ I mean well over 50% of people, have a milk allergy that they are unaware of.
Symptoms such as snoring, ear, nose and throat infections, muscle and joint ache, headaches, skin rashes, bowel cramping, diarrhea, gas, poor memory, fuzzy headed feeling, thyroiditis, rheumatoid arthritis, autoimmune diseases and many other issues can all be related to a milk allergy.
Unfortunately many of these complaints get swept under the rug with comments like “well you’re just getting older and joints are going to hurt.” Your doctor may even tell you that you have rheumatoid arthritis and even treat you with medication but never look to see WHY you have it.
I can’t begin to tell you how many patients I’ve seen that stopped snoring after they gave up milk. The comment “I am not allergic to milk” for MOST people is just not true. A better comment might be, “I’ve never been tested for milk allergy and therefore have no idea if I’m allergic.”
You want to get a clue without getting a test? Give up all dairy products for 4 to 6 weeks and see if you notice anything different in how you feel. If you want to get a test a simple blood test for IgG and IgE antibodies can be done for more than 100 different foods for $149.00 through Alletess labs. It can really change the direction of your health.
Thanks for the question, I hope this helps.
