The Guts to Overcome. Let’s Do It Together

The Guts to Overcome. Let’s Do It Together

Well gang, it’s post Christmas and I hope that the holiday spirit will continue to live in you and shine all year long, but it’s the holiday celebrating that needs to be addressed for many of us. I sit here presently feeling like Santa’s proverbial bag of coal. I ate whatever I wanted on Christmas and I ate often. I attacked the chocolate and cookies like an inmate on death row. The day after Christmas was no better as it was a Saturday to relax and enjoy with the kids and there was left over “stuff” sitting everywhere.

I had special coffee (acidic), and lots of sugary nuts and candies (acidic) and of course I tried to finish off the remaining bread and cheese that make such rare appearances in our house and followed that with some wine (acidic). Guess how I feel right now. Just a bit acidic, and of course bloated and a tad gassy and while we’re making lists lets add fuzzy headed and sluggish.

January 1st is coming quick and I need a plan to get on track and that plan starts today. If you are feeling anything like I do right now then today is the perfect day to make changes. Take advantage of the crappy feelings, sensations and gurglings you have inflicted upon yourself to motivate you to a better place.

Now, if you managed to exert some self-control over the past couple of days and you don’t feel bad then that’s great, pat yourself on the back and keep rolling on. But you still have room for improvement because I’m coming for you and if you don’t stay one step ahead of me I’ll be running past you like you were standing still.

For those of you that planned your work and worked your plan to avoid overeating, I want to congratulate you on your foresight and dedication. You obviously understand that feeling good and lean is more pleasurable than any food could ever taste. You are in control of your life and your body and you will have more impact on the world than the world will ever have on you. Go baby go.

This is a critical point. This is where you either put your foot down and say “no more,” I choose not to live and feel like this. Enough is enough. Or you tell yourself, “it’s futile,” I’m just too far gone and the road ahead is too hard to fight.

Just the article I needed to read tonight! I love it. I have been doing lots of thinking about what I want to accomplish in 2010, my last year in my 30′s. I like your suggestions to make very specific goals for myself and to write them down. Great advice, thanks!

Your suggested details about the food plan put my original 2010 goals to shame. I’m rethinking them now and feel much more confident about it. A seemingly simple, but powerful point. Thanks!

You got me with point #4.

    Hey you guys and gals,
I have not stopped into my local Starbucks once in 2010. I still love them and I’ll be back but I have had organic sencha green tea every morning for the past week and felt GREAT!!!. I have done my interval training and did 4 three minute intervals with a one minute rest and felt GREAT!!! I have spent an hour (or more) playing silly childish games with my kids and it’s made me silly and childish and I feel GREAT!!! I love 2010 and you should too. Make a stand, proclaim your destiny and get on board with your hearts desire. Live your life . . . it’s yours.
