Q. How do I get rid of an eyelid twitch? -Angie

Q. Hi Doc! I have had rather bothersome left eyelid twitch on and off for a week now. Some days it’s not so bad and other days, like today, it’s constant and annoying. I am getting sleep and not too stressed out. What else can it be? How can I get rid of it? – Angie

Hi Angie,

Muscle spasticity is very often due to magnesium deficiency. The FDA estimates that 75% of Americans don’t get enough magnesium in there diet. This is one of the few times tI actually agree with the FDA.
Magnesium is actively removed from your body by fructose. Fructose will bind it in the blood stream and pull it out of your body. Most Americans are estimated to consume over 100 pounds of high fructose corn syrup yearly by consumption of processed foods and soda. So low magnesium states are common and can take months to repair.

I would suggest taking a good magnesium source for a month or two. Avoid magnesium oxide as it is very poorly absorbed. Look for other sources of magnesium like magnesium glycinate, taurate, malate, or other. I would recommend starting with 400 mg per day.

Too much magnesium can cause a loose stool but that is easily corrected bylowering the dose. Magnesium is safe and easy and greatly beneficial for your insulin receptor function, muscle relaxation, bowel function and much more. Magnesium is involved in over 600 chemical reactions in your body.

Try this today and let me know what happens with that tic.
